This month we’ve started a new service, a practical extension of what has been talked of in this blog. A new website www.websitereviews.co.nz that will do regular reviews of NZ websites, looking at them from a design, coding and traffic perspective.
This new site will go through some design changes too, doing various A/B tests, finding out the best layout and structure that gives results. In fact not even the branding is finalised yet. We’ll work through my famous ‘to do’ list, talked about previously on this blog.
Additionally, the site itself will be part of it’s own case study, tracking traffic and ranking each month and discussing what’s happened (or not happened) and what we need to do about it. We’ll talk about the processes used and how we are building this new site from scratch, with emphasis on building up traffic and conversions.
Copy will be King
Backlinks will be important, but a lot of emphasis will go on the copy, not just on copy for SEO purposes, but copy that will engage the reader and bring conversions. We’ll cover this copywriting topic next week, in an article entitled “A good writer will create images better than a graphic designer.”
Should be interesting times ahead!
